Your master server for this client is mob-archeve.ce22, but NB_ORA_SERV in backup script is set to mob-archive. Modify this line and try again.

export NB_ORA_SERV=mob-archive.ce22

Backup was running previously or this is a new Backup Policy..

Check client is communicating with Master Server via GUI.

Oracle Library is attached with Netbackup?

bsa_checkFeatureId: unable to check if feature <36> is licensed

This is a 'red herring' - nothing wrong with your licenses, because you were able to create policy with Oracle type.

The error is because the Oracle client is trying to connect to bprd on the master (via vnetd) but is not getting any response back.

Please verify that port 13724 is open in both directions between client and Master.

Check that Master is first SERVER entry in client's bp.conf.

Verify forward and reverse name lookup between master and client - master must be able to resolve client's incoming IP address to same hostname that is in the Client tab of the Oracle policy.

For further troubleshooting, ensure that bprd log folder exists on the master.
If not, create folder and restart NBU.
After next failure, copy bprd log to bprd.txt and post as File attachment.

With NBU 6.5 there are no processes running on a client.

vnetd and bpcd run from within inetd.
You will be able to these two processes 'Listening' when you run 'netstat -a'.

PLEASE upgrade your client as NBU 6.5 has reached EOSL in Oct 2012.

As from 7.0, vnetd and bpcd run as standalone processes and PBX will also be installed and running.

Wha happens if you run

bptestbpcd -client GRCFX2_ge -debug

on the master and media server involved ?

The standard questions: Have you checked: 1) What has changed. 2) The manual 3) If there are any tech notes or VOX posts regarding the issue

Have you verified the checksum of each piece before and after you've joined them?

You need to use gtar to extract the tar file. See http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH154080

Please - we need bprd log without 'grep' for 10.100.2.42.

We can see in dbclient log that the client is using a different IP address to connect to the master:

BPRD CONNECT FROM 10.100.2.46.35863 TO 10.80.0.77.13724

Please check client config with 'bpclntcmd -self'.
