backing up win 2008 filesystem failing with socket write failed(24).
NBU version is 6.5.6
logs at client shows this error:
FTL - SocketWriteException: send() call failed, could not write data to the socket, possible broken connection.
when backing up to disk it's working fine, what would be the cause for such problem ?

There are quite a number of TN's that we can post, but we 1st need to understand which ones are relevant.
Media server details - O/S, NBU version?
STU (Storage Unit) that fails - is it tape?
Is Disk STU that backs up successfully attached to same media server as STU that fails?
Do you have logs on the media server? You need bpbrm and bptm.
Is any data written before the backup fails? How long does it take before backup fails? Please post contents of Details tab.

As marianne said there may be a number of TNs.
For initial troubleshoot see the below it may help you
1.) Check the Netbackup Problem report for clue
2.) A possible cause could be a high network load.
Kindly share Activity Monitor Logs atleast first.
