st reservation conflicts

Hi,

We have a Netbackup 7.0 environment with few media servers. We are adding some more media servers which are on HP C class Bade servers.

Hardware/OS :

HP BL685c G7s in a HP flexfabric C7000 chassis on RH5U8 (OS).

As soon as i zone shared drives to the blade servers on these chasis, i get SCSI reservation conflicts messages in the /var/log/messages. This is prior to installing Netbackup. Any idea  ?

It's quite normal when more host access the same devices. If a device is SCSI reserved to a host it will only respond to that host until it released. I assume you see these messages because the tapedrives are in use, and the new media servers try to poll the device from the OS layer.
