I am not sure because of the above error we get backup partially successfull.

so could you make sure about it , by removing those mail ids for test backup?

Partiall successfull indicats ,it could not compleate all requested jobs, and sending mail also one of those...

other then below errors, rest all are warnings..

1/9/2013 10:03:26 PM - Error bpbrm(pid=5692) cannot send mail

if you confirm that sending mail is not the issue..

1) only C drive backups will not help you to recover the system successfully you need to have the System sate  and shadow copy compnents backups also.

Open files are handled by VSS, and those will get backup as System sate or shadow copy compnents backups.

so you need to include system state also in the backup selection and try backup. and see how it goes.

1) are you takting the bakcup of ALL local Drives?

2) what is your master and client version and OS?

1/9/2013 10:03:26 PM - Error bpbrm(pid=5692) cannot send mail toparesh.surendrarane@sifycorp.com,dinesh.gangadhar@sifycorp.com,bala.nagarajan@sifycorp.com

it looks like above error is the cause of status code 1

just remove this email notificcation for test and see what is the status code its giving to confirm this.

Only for C drive we taking backup. Master and Client OS: Windows 2008 R2 64 bit enterprise server Version. I am not sure because of the above error we get backup partially successfull. Could see some file are in read in below log and in Client server for C drive VSS is in disabled mode. Should i have to enable to overcome the failure? WRN - can't open file: C:\System Volume Information\Syscache.hve (WIN32 32: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. ) 1/9/2013 10:03:11 PM - Warning bpbrm(pid=5692) from client cpsmssftp2: WRN - can't open file: C:\System Volume Information\Syscache.hve.LOG1 (WIN32 32: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. )

Ensure the policy type for the backup is set to MS-Windows and not Standard.

It is recommended to always use VSS for Windows Open File Backups on Windows 2003/2008 clients.

Check the Windows Open File Backup setting on the master server to ensure VSS is being used
Host Properties > Master Servers > (master) > Client Attributes > Windows Open File Backups tab
Ensure the client name is added to this list, then highlight client in the list, and select 'Use Microsoft Volume Shadow Service (VSS)'

hi,

as long as your Netbackup reports status code 0, you are good to go..

you can try with the test restore  if you want..

and also you need to consider about the backup of you system state, just C drive will scipt lot of system file , which will cover under the system state backups.

only C Drive backup only helps you get your data, but not with the compleated system state recovery.
