So, you did not figure out this command yourself, did you?
If you have found this in a previous Connect post, you will know the answer......
Couple of posts where I have suggested this command (each time with explanation):

I asked my senior about the command scan, he says that it will restart media manager daemon.Dont use this.Is this right?
10-01-2012 01:01 PM
No scan will NOT restart ANY NBU processes/daemons. It does what it says - it 'scans'.
See https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/does-scan-or-sgscan-command-will-restart-ltid-media-s...
This post was about vmoprcmd with autoconfig switch, right?

I know that .Device wizard will restart the media manager daemon.
Yes you are right. My question has been answered.
Starting link was helpful in this query. Thanks marianne.

"I asked my senior about the command scan, he says that it will restart media manager daemon.Dont use this.Is this right?"
No, you need to go and find a new 'Senior' - the one you have is faulty.
DW will restart the daemon, but ONLY if you confirm, it asks you first ...

@Martin:Sure I will
so only DW will restart the daemon,Nothing else?I mean no command will restart it ?

netbackup/bin/goodies/netbackup stop
netbackup/bin/goodies/netbackup start
volmgr/bin/stopltid
volmgr/bin/ltid
The above will stop /start daemons you talk about. Obviously the top one stops ALL the daemons for NetBackup!!

10-01-2012 01:25 PM
No!
10-01-2012 01:27 PM
THANKS ALL.
fINAL RESULT: SCAN AND TPAUTOCONF WILL NOT RESTART MY MEDIA MANAGER SERVICE.

Final result???? All well & good but this is not what your original post was about!!!
vmoprcmd -h <media-server-name> -timeout 3600 -autoconfig -a
What this will do?
Where here is the query about stopping & starting media manager service?
Where here is the reference to the commands 'scan' & 'tpautoconf'?
Your question was about what the command "vmoprcmd -h <media-server-name> -timeout 3600 -autoconfig -a" will do!!!!
PS: don't need to tell me exactly 'where' this query about scan/tpautoconf was I've seen *that* thread! ;)

Exactly like NIKHIL, Arun marks a solution, then adds new questions, then moves Solution to post that answers new query................
