windows 2003 media server hangs on boot up.

We are having a problem on our windows 2003 media servers. When a tape drive goes down, the server has to be rebooted and when the server comes back up, the tape drive has to be disconnected from the SAN or it's port disabled in order to get the server to come completely up otherwise the server hangs.

Drives are LTO0-2 fiber drives. Any help would be appreciated.

Vernon,

Sounds like the driver or the Fibre card are not compatible with your configuration. Try updating the driver for the card and make sure the Fibre card version is compatible with your server and or SAN.

Have seen exactly the same problem. We had to go through the same procedure of disconnecting the fibre cable from the media server HBA to the SAN switch and then reconnecting? Could it also be the persistent binding in some way? Is the new drive logging into the fabric ok?

Can you get the server to boot in the safe mode option, so that it blue screens at the problem point to see if it is having a problem with the HBA driver?

Also have to disable RSM?
