This week, Symantec released a major update to our market-leading Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solution. DLP 14 introduces new products and features that allow your customers to gain visibility and control over data in the cloud. For current Symantec DLP customers this means customers can now apply the same information protection policies they use on-premise for the cloud.

Key new capabilities in this release include:

  • DLP for Cloud Email/Office 365: Symantec DLP 14 now supports Microsoft Office 365 for companies who are using it for cloud-based email.
  • DLP for Cloud Storage/Box: DLP now seamlessly integrates with Box to scan employees’ accounts and discover what information is being stored, how it’s being used and with whom it’s being shared. When sensitive files are detected, DLP places visual tags on the content and allows users to self-remediate the files directly within Box.
  • Protection for Personal Cloud File Sync & Share: The DLP 14 endpoint agent can now monitor and prevent users from syncing sensitive work files from their desktop to their personal cloud storage solutions including Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, Hightail, iCloud and Microsoft OneDrive.

This release provides opportunity to sell new add-on skus to existing DLP Suite customers.  More importantly though, with the growth of cloud, your sales teams can strategically position themselves as being able to help their customers protect the increasing amount of data that is going to the cloud.
