From some documentation, I understand that VCS uses vxdg to bring a diskgroup online and offline and to monitor it.
Can anybody explain how this is done and what does the VVM do internaly for every such vxdg command?
Thanks a lot for any information you supply.

What level of detail are you looking for?
VCS is just running scripts to do work. For onlining a disk group, it's just runing 'vxdg import' with some flags.
The internal work that VxVM does on a group import is the big job. It's searching for disks with valid private regions, finding configuration copies on them, reconciling the locations of all disks, then creating locks and accessing them.

Thanks a lot.
The internal work is what I am interested at.
This is the first helpfull information that I get in the subject.
Can you go into more depth on what exactly is being done at drivers level and how does it interact with the OS IO subsystem. Preferebly in windows but any platform is helpfull.
A direction to some documentation of this info will bw great as well.
Thaks a lot,
Ofer

I don't know of any documentation that covers the product at that level.
