Failure to copmprehend File Backup method used by BESR 8.5

Hello,

I have been using and comparing BESR 8.5 against Acronis True Image Server. I am failing miserably at comprehending the BESR method of file/folder backup?

I created a test backup of a couple folders from one of our servers.
I see that BESR makes hundreds of individual compressed files/folders
I see no way to retrieve these files and folders in the event that BESR were to die on the primary server performing the backups.

Acronis simply takes the folder(s) and compresses them into one image/archive, similar to a BESR full image backup.

My question:
How would you ever retrieve these single file and folder backups in the event of an outage where you simply had say the backup disk mounted, the individual BESR created file and folder backups, and the BESR 8.5 software installed?

Why doesn't BESR simply create an image of that particular folder(s) so you simply double click it, mount it if you desire, and retrieve the files/folders you want?
