Hyperv/ creating both c and d vhd files from physical backup

P2V and using BESR2010, I've created both c and d vhd folders from a backup. Installed successfully the C drive, contents, and o/s onto the vm, but the vm system looked at the d drive as another volume that needed to be formated. Is there another way to handle the d drive in order to mount it or should I be using the srd disk? If the srd disk, then would I create it in the vm, or host?

I think its better to use the SRD, you need to create the VM and start the SRD inside the VM.
