Primary domain controller problems after livestating server

Cody
Not applicable
Our primary DC (Windows SBS 2003 R2) crashed last weekend due to hardware, so we livestated an HP ML110 for temporary use to get the site up and running. The site has been up for a week now using the temp server - This weekend i tried to get the original server backup and running - what i did was:

  • Created a livestate base image of the ML110
  • Used the image to livestate our original DC - selected restore MBR, restore anywhere etc.
  • Everything went through fine - except when i logged onto the server - the information store would not mount, there were numerous AD errors, the DNS zones has disappeared - basically the box was useless.
  • My understanding with system recovery 6.5 is you can livestate to any box no matter what hardware is being used if you have the restore anywhere option.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

The  behavior you are describing seems very odd.  Have you opened a support ticket with Symantec?  That would be my recommendation at this point.

Thanks.
