Recovery + Raid

Hi

Iam currently evaluating sytem recovery. Would like to know if it works on a raid.

I have a sbs 2003 (sql+exchange)server running raid 1 for os and raid 5 for data.  with a hot spare . Would like to know the procedure for migration to new server with a diff hardware. help much appreciated.

Hi

First you need to make sure that your RAID is support by BESR, it requires running special tool in CD2 (SRD) of this software called "Driver Validation". If you dont have CD2 you may contact sales to get it. Please note that you must run that tool on target machine not source one. After that you may backup and during restore (with CD2) choose "Restore Anywhere" option and you'll have your OS on your second machine.

Reza is right you might also once you obtained the recovery CD to use its Driver validation test to verify if the drivers needed are even on the recovery disk for this RAID controller in the first place, but like Reza has stated you ought to still test the recovery disk to be sure that both the RAID container is seen and the system in the recovery environment has network access.
