Restoring VMs

Hello,

having Citrix XEN 5.5 with some Server2008 / 64bit VMs. Backup these VMs with BESR 8.5.5 to external NAS. All working fine. But, how would you recover a VM back to XEN? Can`t create a SRD with this patched Version. Every time i get Error "wrong Version CD". So i can`t try to recover for worst case. So my question is, how to recover such a VM?

How are you backing them up? Are you backing up the VMDK's or are you running BESR within the guest OS itself?

We `re running BESR within the guest OS. Backing up working verry fine, but we are looking for a way to recovering such a backup.

In that case, you should be able to use the conversion utility within BESR to convert the recovery point file to a VMDK file. You would then need to manually 'import' that back into XEN.
