Just curious, does anyone know why they put out separate SRDs for 64 & 32 Bit? I don't remember this being the case in past versions

Prior to 2013 version, we only released a 32bit SRD.

The main reason for having 32 and 64bit versions now is that a lot of modern hardware only comes with 64bit drivers. If you cannot load the correct driver, your hardware wont work inside the recovery environment.

So,

64bit SRD is there to work with all modern hardware

32bit SRD is there for legacy hardware where only 32bit drivers are available

I understand what you're saying. But I have been using 2010 and 2011 in my environments, most of which are 64 Bit and it has been working fine. I have done full restores both to existing and new hardware without problems. Unless the issue was to keep the SRD small enough to fit on a CDR vs DVD-R.

Thanks for the explanation, I was certainly glad to see the updated version this year.
