VMware Server Ver 2

Is VMware Server Ver. 2 compatible with the virtual conversion options of symantec system recover 8.5? If not what is the recomended virtual server to work with System Recovery 8.5? We are looking to start testing disaster recovery scenarios.

I've just tried to convert a couple of XP machines to VMware server 2.0 and vmware told me that the vmdk file wasn't vaid.
