backup using both symantec backup exec 12.5 and BESR 2010

Hi,

Is it possible to backup a windows server using both Backup exec 12.5 and BESR 2010? If so do i need to install both the agents on the server or BESR 2010 agent is enough. Currently i have 10-20 serves which needs to be backed up using both 12.5 (regular backup) and besr 2010 (DR site).

Hi Sridhar,

I have been experimenting with the same setup you describe. Yes, it does work BUT be carefull that your schedules do not overlap. Both products use VSS and jobs can fail as a result of conflicting snapshot requests. I have attemted to solve this by configuring my BESR jobs to start at 17:30 while my BEWS jobs start at 23:00.

Thank you very much for the details. Do i need to install both the agents (12.5 and besr 2010) on the client to backup the data? If so, what are the changes that needs to be done on the client. Also do I need to follow any order when installing the client agents?

I am able to backup a single machine using both Symantex backup 12.5 and BESR 2010.
