Does anyone know whether the agent browser service is required if no remote agents are in use? It appears unnecessary, but I would like to verify.

Is there any reason to run the Agent Browser service on servers that do not backup remote clients? On the surface it appears that the service is not necessary otherwise, but I just want to verify before turning it off.Thanks

Yep..Experimenting it is...Fortunately I have a test box to play with...I started yesterday and so far all appears ok....have done a short (single folder) backup and restore without trouble. All the other BE services do start at boot with the Agent B...

I thought about that (since it's going to have to be done anyway for patching). I tend to agree that it probably will do no good (and wanted to see if anyone had any ideas on the specific problem before loading it), but we'll give it a shot and see.D...

Ken,Thanks for your reply.There are no scheduled tasks running during the backup.Backups are all local, and this server does not back up and remote servers.
