User has restored a domain controller that was previously running Exchange 2003. Roles were seized by another DC, all seems to verify okay and all domain functions are working properly. System was rebuilt with same name, IP, etc, and readded into domain.
Now trying to restore Exchange, as all data and OS have been restored fine. Specific notes are:
Backup Exec v9.1 4691
Windows 2003 Server
Exchange 2003 Server (original believed to be SP1 if this matters)
Only good backups were done to disk. Catalogs and inventory of backup to disk folders seems to work well and data is otherwise restored, except for Exchange.
Exchange setup.exe /disasterrecovery has been run.
MSExchangeSA is in fact starting
When attempting to restore the IS to the server, the 0xa000848c - Unable to attach to one of the drives error occurs. I'm having some difficulty understanding if this is an issue attaching to the drive housing the files on disk to do the restore, of if this is referencing the restore to location for the IS DB's as 'disks'.
Restoring user is Administrator, which appears to have full rights everywhere. This is the service account for Backup Exec and for Exchange.
My assumption at this point, is that it would help if the option of marking the IS DB's as "allow to be restored by backup" in Exchange System manager were available, although it seems as though the /disasterrecovery installation does not create the MSC required to start System Manager.
User isn't particularly concerned about how they get the data back, they would be fine with EXMERG'ing it out from a recovery of any sort.
