Does backup exec 8.6 remote agent work on Windows Server 2003? I don't want to roast my production server by trying it out.

As far as I can tell it works. I've been using it to backup a few 2003 servers.

You may be able to attach and backup user data, but to get Disaster Recovery type backups, you'll need to upgrade to v9.0..4454

See http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/251810.htm

Update: After applying the 3787 patch, I can no longer backup anything on any remote server. So beware the 3787 patch.

Also, Veritas claims no support or compatability for 8.6 and Windows Server 2003, so I've just found out.

Anybody know how can I upgrade my 8.6 to 9.0, so I can use it over win 2003 Server EE

Veritas will only sell you v9.1 (or v10 if that has finally hit the streets)

You may find a copy at a ComputerStore (CompUsa, CDW, Office Depot, etc) You can probably also find a copy or two on EBay.

Just be sure that you download the upgrade to 4454 after installing a prior build if that's all you can find.
