9.1 backup hangs (w/o error notice) when media full

When running a recent (full) backup on our SQL Server, 9.1 failed and hung in a state of doing nothing. I killed the job and restarted it - this second job also hung and did nothing. Upon a full reboot of the machine running 9.1, I restarted the job again and ONLY THEN did I receive an error notice saying that the media was full.

I cleared out some old data, and the job then ran fine.

Is there a hotfix / workaround that can keep this from happening in the future, so that error notices notify us more reliably?

Kindly refer the following steps and install Service Pack 1 to the existing Backup Exec 9.1 software.

You may download Service Pack 1 from the link mentioned below:-
Title:- VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 9.1 for Windows Servers revision 4691 - Service Pack 1 http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/267180.htm

You may refer the following document to ensure SP1 is loaded.

Title:- How to ensure that Service Pack 1 has been applied to VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 9.1 for Windows Servers revision 4691 http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/267690.htm

We hope this helps. Let us know if the problem still exists and revert back with the error message.

FYI - I hadn't replied to this thread until now, because I only today received notice (via email) that there was any activity on it.
