About Backing up Windows Cluster Shared Storage

Hi everybody,

We have a standalone server as a backup media server (version 2014) and we want to backup whole things on shared disk that running windows cluster on Windows server 2008 R2. After studying admin guide, (my understanding) the only way to do so is installing backup exec as managed media server (standalone server as CAS) and run cluster configuration wizard.

Can we install remote agent (not backup exec) only on both nodes to backup shared disk resources? If please give me details. Thanks.

Regards,

Thomas

In this case, you don't need to run the Cluster Config wizard on the BE server. Install the remote agents on the 2nd and 3rd servers. Add the virtual ip/name of the cluster to the server list under Backup & Restore tab. You should be able to view the shared resources under the backup selections.

A little bit of clarification. Are you seeking to backup a remote Windows cluster or is BE itself installed on one of the clustered nodes ?
