Please help with regards to our backup executive 2010 with lotus domino agent.
Currently backup exec media server is installed in windows 2003 standard 32bit server, and lotus domino is also installed in win 2003 standard 32bit.
We have no problem so far with current setup, we can backup lotus domino databases, file server and active directory.

We want to know what needs to be done if we upgrade/replace our lotus domino with 64bit, installed in windows 2008 64bit.
Can we push same agent with existing (media server 32bit) and backup lotus domino 64bit? how?
Do we need to upgrade our license for lotus domino agent?
Do we need to reinstall media server on 64bit platform? If yes, how about our agent for win server 32bit? (file server and and Active directory on win 2003 32bit)

In short, does the agent comes in 2 versions (32bit and 64bit)?

You got to check the SCL (below) to make sure that your version of BE supports your version of Domino.  For example, if you use Domino 8.5.2 then you would need BE 2010 R2 or R3.  So, if you are on BE 2010 R1 and is planning to use Domino 8.5.2, then you would need to upgrade to BE 2010 R3 first.  Both 32-bit and 64-bit Domino are support on a 64-bit platform.

BE 2010|2010 R2|2010 R3 Software (SCL)

Can we push same agent with existing (media server 32bit) and backup lotus domino 64bit? how?

The same way that you are currently doing, i.e. by going to Tools ----> Install Agent ....  BE will automatically push a 64-bit agent to a 64-bit machine.

Do we need to upgrade our license for lotus domino agent?

No.  You can use your existing licence, but you must either uninstall the agent from your existing 32-bit machine or de-comission it.

Do we need to reinstall media server on 64bit platform?

No.  A 32-bit media server can backup a 64-bit remote server.

What is the version of Domino.

Remote agent is available in 32 and 64 bit(RAWS32 and RAWS64)

License is not dependant on the architecture, same license will key will work with 32 and 64 bit.

Hi,

Your best bet is to first check that your version will be supported by BE by checking the BE 2010 R3 SCL.

If it is listed, it's supported.

That said, it will also state clearly if your media server needs to be on an x64 platform or not. If not, leave it as is.

Even if you needed to upgrade your media server to x64 (and then I would be looking at Win2K8 R2), your other agents won't be affected. They're on x32-bit OSs and would remain as is. The only change you'd need to make would be to the RAWS agent publishing details if you change the backup server's name.

If you need to upgrade, you'll need to mimgrate your BE data and I would suggest opening a new forum query around that.

Thanks!
