All of our backups are failing after a while with the following error reported in BEX:

e00084ec - A tape read/write error has occurred.  This is 

 

usually caused by dirty read/write heads in the tape drive.  

 

Clean the tape drive, and then try the job again.  If the 

problem persists, try a different tape.

1. .Try installing the latest drivers

2. Make sure the removable storage service is stopped and disabled

3. Check event log for hardware related error

4. try different tape

5.Normally, these kind of intermittent dirty tape head error is an indication that the tape drive is faulty.

Run the diagnostic utility from the tape drive manufacturer . try a different tape drive as it seems to be the issue with the tape drive header that got corrupted and not able to read the tapes properly.
