Hi,

I am trying to restore 3 files from removable USB disk with a differential backup and getting

an error message: "Media Mount Failed" is reported when attempting to perform a restore operation.

How fix  this problem?

Make sure that the backup set from the full backup baseline is available during the restore

Backup Exec 2012 displays the restore selections for both incremental and differential backups in such a way that it looks the same as if you had done a full backup. Then if you select files for restore that were from earlier stages in the backup, it will automatically load each piece of media it needs in order to perform the restore. We do display slightly different icons for the files and folders that were backed up in an earlier stage of the backup (either earlier full or earlier incremental) with a slightly different icon.

Also please be aware that if you do GRT enabled Incremental or differenetial backups then to get back individual data items from these types of backups we do have to mount the complete backup image (which would go back to the full) in order to complete the operation (which again would require all the the media to be online when doing the restore.)

Yes, indeed, the backup of these files was in the full backup baseline. Thank you.

But then another question, why these files in ExecBackup 2012 are also shown as to be restored (the files can be selected in order to restore) at the date of the differential backup?
