Does anyone know how to associate barcode with the media set?
For use a specific barcode for each media set
e. g. for 17d00ALTO5(barcode) 4years(media set), for 17d00RLTO5 - 1year, etc ...

*Used Backup Exec 15 & Dell TL2000 with 2 library
*Use different libraries are not suitable

Media sets are only there to control the tape overwrite protection the is no guarantee that  a specific tape will remain in the same media set as BE will move tapes between sets as it needs to (as long as they are overwritable at the time they are needed)

If you want to guarantee a tape remains in one media set then you would have to partition the slots in the library and then make sure that the only jobs that use a specific partition also only use the same media set. It should however be noted that this approach could result in more jobs not completing as they may not be able to find enough suitable tapes in the partition when they need to.

Hi, You would need to manually drag and drop the tape into the media set if you want to force BE to assign a specific tape to a specific media set. The other option is to let BE handle media management. Thanks!
