BE 2010 + sql express 2005 service pack

Hi,

I have installed BE 2010 today. I can see no service pack was installed for sql 2005. Can i install the latest service pack for sql 2005 i.e sp4. Is SP4 compatible with BE 2010?

Even SQL 2008 is compatible with BE2010.

BE2010 requires SQL 2005 SP3 and above.

If you have installed the default SQL instance which comes bundled with BE then its SP3.

I have not tried updating it but  there is no issue sticking with SP3

BUEX 2010

When I attempt to install SQL Express 2005 SP4 it completes.  However, when I run Windows Update again - It attempts to install again.

The BUEX Media server is a (basic member server) Windows 2008 R2 x64.

Has anyone been able to install SQL 2005 SP4 on a BUEX 2010 Media Server?

As per the latest testing, Backup Exec works fine without any issue even after the installation of SP4 of SQL 2005.

So SP4 of SQL 2005 is fully supported. If the Windows updates are trying to install the SP4 again even when you have installed successfully then there could be some issue with the Windows updates.

But all looks OK with Backup Exec.
