Hi,

my old LTO-2 drive is dead.

I've purchased a Tanberg LTO-3 drive.

BE 9.1D (sp5) can see it but when I do an inventory i always have an error.

I've try to install Veritas Driver with tapeinst.exe and reboot but the problem is still present.

OS:  Windows 2k3 STD SP2

BE: 9..1d Rev: 4691 SP5

Any idea of what I can do?

Thanks.

PS: sorry for my english, I'm french.

Hi ,

Did You check the Hardware compatibility List For Backup exec 9.1 Version if the Tape Drive is supported?

If Not Please verify the same here:

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH46795

If It is Listed As compatible, Please Install the OEM drivers and check.

Reboot the server.

Check for Any Hardware related errors in the event Viwer.

Arul

Hi,

thanks for your answer.

I've just had a look and it's not in the list.

My model is VEN_TANDBERG&PROD_LTO-3_HH&REV_D229\6&22D38072&0&020.

I've used Tandberg test tools and the drive is fine as the tape inside. Read/write test are succesfull.

In the event viewer there are no hardware errors.

What can I do?

Regards.

Inventory Drive 0374 - The job failed with the following error: Library error - incompatible medium A was detected in the library.

Probably You may need to check to see if the Problem is with the Tape.

Try with a different Tape Media and let me know How it goes?!!

Good Luck!!

Very few LTO3 drives are actually compatible with BE 9.0...So kinda difficuly to make a non-supported drive work...however you could try this KB for the error - http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH89508

Hi,

As per HCL stated the Tape Drive is not listed. There is Less chance the Drive might wlork with this version as expected.

Its advisable to get to the latest Version of BE.
