Hi there, quick question, we've just bought this software to use with a External USB DAT drive. Does anyone know if the software requires the device to be connect at installation? or can you install the software with no backup devices connected and then connect the device at a later date? this'll save me travelling 100 mile roung trip to install the software it if requires the device to be connected

You can install the software (and use Backup to Disk targets if needed) and then run tapeinst.exe (from the Backup Exec programs folder) - after you have connected your tape device and made sure that it is visible in Windows Device Manager.

For this sort of question Quickstart Edition is no differnt from the full edition, so these forums can sometimes help - Just be aware that official customer support for the Quickstart Edition is via your hardware vendor not directly to Symantec,
