Hello Community, We have a Problem with our Backup Exec 12.5 and so far we're unsure how to handle it:
|
BE says Trial Period expired but we have a valid License [Case: 111018-000700]

We have read the Article "https://customercare.symantec.com/app/answers/preview_detail/a_id/135" but however we don't have the Option to enter a License Key in the Console as mentioned in the article.
What option you get when you click on Tools->Install options and license key.
Try below step.
Open add/remove programs through control panel, select Symantec Backup Exec and then click on
change, in the wizard you will get an option "Additional Options" upon selection next screen will
allow you to delete/enter license key.

Hi,
Thanks for the prompt Answers.
@AmolZeroCool: Clicking on Tools => Options and License Keys... doesn't give me the Option to install a License Key (see attached Screenshot).
EDIT: Also the Add/Remove Applications Wizzard doesn't let me enter or import any Licenses.
@Sush: The above mentioned Screenshot also shows why your linked Document cannot help me here.
I already checked another of our Backup Exec 12.5 Instalation and there i can see the Options and License Screen, but not on this particular Server.
Regards
Andreas

Stop SQL server BKUPEXEC service and make a copy of DATA and CATALOGS folder and then
run repair install of Backup Exec. Above folders are located at X:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec.

Thanks but unfortunately nothing changed after that repair installation. The "Options and Install License" Screen isn't available and also BE itself still insists on being an expired Trial Version...

Try repairing and rebuilding BEDB, refer to http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH145645
You may reload blank BEDB to check if the issue is with the database or with the installation.

I have rebuild a blank new Database and then repaired this new one. Now all finished and planned Jobs are gone and the "Trial Period expired"-Message is still the same.

So its an issue with the installation itself. I would suggest reinstall Backup Exec and then use
below link to import BEDB.
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH49757
NOTE: Make a copy of DATA and CATALOGS folders by stopping SQL service.

Alright, I'll do that tomorrow morning. I'll keep you posted.
Many thanks so far for the super fast Feedback and Help. Very much appreciated!

Did you happen to resolve the issue.

To me it has the same problem I just have to enable internet access to the server and accept the license, add it and go.
