Hey,

I'm new to the forums, and fresh with an issue :-).

I have looked around forums, but can't seem to find any answers, that worked, for me!

So i've got an issue when trying to push the Remote Agent to a server running Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit.

Here's the error log:

As you can see, it looks as if the account used to push the agent does not have the appropriate permissions - but it does. The account used is a Domain Admin account. I have even explicitly allowed full write access to the paths for this particular account.

I tried digging and attempted to manually install the agent, which i believe to be C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Agents\RAWSX64; but apparently Windows has blocked the installer due to known issues.

Does anybody have a solid fix for this?

Many thanks for any help i can get on this one.

Christian

Hello Christian, Welcome to the blog,

Windows 2008 R2 is not supported with BE 12.0, you need to upgrade to BE 2010 R2 to fully protect that machine.

Lookup the Software Compatibility lists.

Refer to > http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH56442 for BE 12.0

and ftp://exftpp.symantec.com/pub/support/products/Backup_Exec_for_WindowsNT/329254.pdf for BE 2010 R2

Thanks for the info!

I had heard similiar info, but wasn't too sure.

Do you have any idea on the price? Can i do an upgrade from v12 to 12.5 with a smaller fee than the new licence?

Thanks!

If you have a valid support contract then Symantec will offer you free upgrade.

Contact the licensing team for the upgrade notification.

As mentioned, valid & current support contracts, grant you access to the current shipping release of said product.

Sadly, you can't "pay less," for an older build of BackupExec, nor any other enterprise software application for that matter.

Depending on the month and time of year, there are specials you can find though on www.backupexec.com for upgrades at up to 45% off MSRP.

As an example here, it's currently at 35%.

When BE2010 was first released, it was at 45% I believe.
