Back Up Exec 12

Hi

I have back up exec 12 on SBS2003 and want to know if this has the functionality to create an image of the o/s etc

If not, what solutions would you recommend?

Also, is there a symantec software that will allow a universal restore, so if the hardware is not the same as that of the image created, it will still be able to restore

Thanks

Jon

Hi,

You're looking at Symantec System Recovery.

BE is solely file-level restores with physical servers.

The link to the SSR forum:

Thanks!

Backup Exec is not specifically an imaging product but does have Disaster Recovery capability - although for somethign like SBS this would only recover the OS and you would then have to do secondary restores to get back Exchange etc.

Check out Symantec System Recovery (old name = Backup Exec Systnm Recovery) which despite the old name is a completely separate product that does work at an imaging/block level on the operating system and also has "Restore Anywehere" capabilitiy to help with dissimilar hardware

As it is a different product it has it's own separate forums on Symantc Connect

Hi

Firstly, many thanks for your comments.

Does System Recovery SBS Edition supersede Back Up Exec 12 or does it sit along side it?

Apologies if a very obvious question!!!

Thanks
