Backing Up your Backup Server

I was just wondering how the folks in this forum protect their Windows Backup Exec Servers? I ask becasue recently an upgrade attempt to 12.5 destroyed my database and I lost everything. I was backing up the BE server to tape, but with no install I did not have an easy path to restore a backup of the server. What are the best options when it comes to protecting your BE server?

Thanks for all input!

Every night at 0400 (by default) BackupExec does a database maintenance job, which includes creating a copy of the database whether MSSQL or SQLExpress.  The file created is BEDB.BAK

As long as you have this file and the contents of the \Catalogs directory on tape, (as well as any B2Df folders) you should  be able to  restore your BE Installation

While not aimed specifically at DR, you can adapt the procedures in

Ken, Perfect. I wish I had known this (or the tech I was on the phone with yesterday for 4 hrs) before I recreated the entire configuration from scratch. Thank you for your time!
