Backing up data on an iSCSI SAN

We recently purchased a Dell/EMC AX150i SAN, and I would like to know if the following is feasble:
 
Use the AX150i snapshot feature to create a quick backup of data that is on the SAN
Use Veritas to backup the AX150i snapshot data to tape
 
If this can be done, how do I get started?

Actually, the easiest way to do this is schedule an incremental job in BE and set it up to Duplicate to tape.

Would BE see the SAN directly, to do the incremental?
