We have 3 servers that have been running fine. This morning, however, all 3 servers failed (at different stages in their scheduled backup) with the final error 0xe00084af: The file or directory cannot be accessed.
I have checked that the listed folders and directories are present and accessible, Have tried numerous ways of solving this but backups continue to fail.
We are running Backup Exec 11d with SP3 and hotfixes 35, 38 and 39 installed. Running on Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard edition with Service Pack 2.
We've made no changes to our system, and even running a separate partial backup fails with the same error.
Live update indicates there are no updates available.
Has anyone else encountered this and (more importantly) found a fix for it!
Thanks in advance for any help and advice! :o)

hello again,
yes both drives are local to this individual server, one of the articles relates to defragging and disk checking, "done that"... article two relates to a different error code, and why should it now cause this problem when it has been working fine for ages...???
making changes like this and then re-running the back up to test is taking way to long..... I will give the regedit a go and see what happens..... fingers crossed...
now uninstallin version 11 on another server and going back to 10d................

P.S. The regedit doesnt apply to version "11d"

Thank You

Hi
Middelton to use AOFO feature you will have to see if you are licenses for it because in version 11 AOFO was paid option & if you are licenses for it please go to tools -install licenses & then please enter the license for AOFO & then install it & you will see in job properties the AOFO feature
If you are not license you may think of upgrading your backupexec version or purchasing AOFO as from BE 12.0 and above AOFO is free option
I beleive this information helps you
Thank You

Hi,
ok I understand what you are saying, but "Why have the backups been working since April 2007" without this installed..... and they just throw this error up now..???
Tried to install the AOFO feature from the cd as we have a licence for it, and yep now get this error message about Microsoft .net... suggestion is to upgrade to 11d 7170 which we have tried on one of the servers..
back in a mo......
cheers

Hi
That is great news as you have license for AOFO so please go to tools-install license key & enter the AOFO license key & then provide the installable which you have downloaded for 11d 7170 & then should work fine
Also what this line means yep now get this error message about Microsoft .net... suggestion is to upgrade to 11d 7170 which we have tried on one of the servers..
We have tried on one of the server means this server were you are getting error messages is not on BE 11d 7170 do you mean to say that ?
Thank You
