Backup Exec 11d encrypted backup failed, though all components complete with NO errors.

Hi,

I have recently changed a backup to use 128 bit encryption, and the backup appears to run to completion with all components backing up and verifying with NO errors, however the final state of the backup says "failed".

Job ended: Tuesday, January 06, 2009 at 1:09:02 AMCompleted status: Failed

There is a corresponding single error in the application event log:

Backup Exec Alert: Job Failed

(Server: "MANDWSERVER") (Job: "MWServer-MW Media Rotation-Monthly Full Backup") MWServer-MW Media Rotation-Monthly Full Backup -- The job failed.

For more information, click the following link:

For which the link is fairly useless.

Without encryption the same backup works with no errors and completes with a "successful" status.

The encrypted backup does take longer (as expected).

I tried restoring some files and it appears to work fine, but WHY does it say it failed ??

I have not tried restoring any exchange or system state data but as I say all components completed both backup and verify parts.

Any ideas why the final status is "failed".

I have checked the forum and see similar issues have been raised before with no conclusion, but hope with the current requirements for encryption increasing that it might have a resolution by now ?

Any help appreciated.

William
