Hi,
We just got a new server and have installed Windows 2008 R2 on it.  We have to move Backup Exec from a Windows 2003 R2 server to the new server so that we are reconfiguring to do other functions with the old server.  Can i move the catalogs, data and IDR to the new server?  If i can how is this done?

Backup Exec 12.5 software is not supported on WIndows 2008 R2. It is only supported till Windows 2008. Please find the software compatibility list below:
ftp://exftpp.symantec.com/pub/support/products/Backup_Exec_for_WindowsNT/307063.pdf

Also, Remote Agent on Windows 2008 R2 is not officially supported with Backup Exec 12.5.

You can keep looking at this software compatibility list for updates.

Please mark it a solution, if this is useful.
Thanks

What I understand is that the media server will not support 2008 R2 until version 2010 releases in January
But they expect an hotfix for the client agent to support 2008 R2 in October

The Remote Agent support should be released in mid October, but it is only to cover functionality that already exists in Windows 2008 (pre R2) as such don't expect support for the new features in R2 until the 2010 release.
