Backup Exec 2010 VMWare SAN Backups V-79-57344-38277

I'm having issues trying to backup a VMware environment with Backup Exec 2010. I setup the iSCSI initiator service. The LUN's show up in disk management. I see that the snapshots in vcenter are created and then almost immediately removed. Backup Exec reports failure "V-79-57344-38277 - Unable to open a disk of the virtual machine" I'm using a Dell Equallogic san, is there some specific program or driver I need to load so Backup Exec can talk to the SAN?

Does the backup work with NBD ? Also is this an Issue with a particular VM or all the VMs ?

I am already running R3 and it's up to date. NBD backups work fine, they are just slower than I would like. I am trying to get some extra performance by using the SAN backup method.

AVVI Performance Technote : http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH185691

For the Issue discussed in the thread refer : http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH77785 If it does not help enable debug as follows on media server :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Backup Exec For Windows\Backup Exec\Engine\Logging    ---> CreateDebugLog to 1

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Backup Exec For Windows\Backup Exec\Engine\VMware Agent   ---> VMware Agent debug log level to 1

Rerun the backup so that the Issue is reproduced. Attach the beremote and bengine logs from BE Install Path\logs and Job Log and we can check it.
