Backup Exec 2012 Opmized deduplication

Dear all,

 We have a requirement and wish to gain some advise from the group if it is possible.

Our environment is using backup exec 2012 for years for servers data protection. We have built a DR site with 50mbps link to the production site. We have tested a few jobs at production site to backup data -> production Dedupe folder ->DR Dedupe folder and it is working fine. However we need to vault the backup date to Tape at least once a month for data retention policy complaince. We are planning to setup a tape drive at DR site and wish to configure automated job to

Daily - Backup to Production Dedupe foler ->DR dedupe folder.

Monthly -Backup to production dedupe foler ->DR dedupe folder -> Dr tape drive.

May I know if this option is possible to automate in Backup Exec 2012?

More information. Dr Backup Exec server is CASO and Production BE server is managed server.

Hi,

If your CASO/MMS setup is already duplicating the dedupe folder on the MMS to the dedupe folder on the CASO server, then all you need to do is put in a duplicate stage that will duplicate the DR dedupe folder to tape.

Dear CraigV,

Thanks for the prompt response. Initialy all the tested are hard select on the Product server. Hence DR robotic is not shown. After changing it to any server pool, we are able to see the robotic at DR. Site.

Hi Craig,

   We are in the stage of applying the cocept to production. I notice, job created in CASO is able to do duplicate to tape drive attached to the CASO. However job created at MMS is unable to. Is that means we have to move all job to our CASO?
