Hi,
How should i configure BE so it can backup Exchange server that is in DAG. We've had this job working randomly, but mostly it just fails, saying that "There are no data in specified sources". And when i try to create a new job, it cannot find servers from cluster...
Cluster and Exchagne are working properly, but BE just cannot work with it...
Kind regards,
Matti

Hi Matti,
Do you have the RAWS agent on both Exchange nodes, and did you run the cluster configuration wizard within BE? This would allow you to select the virtual node only in order to do your backups.
Furthermore, check the Best Practices TN below for further information:

Thanks!

Hi
Yes , If exchange 2010 is in DAG , then you should do backup from DAG only. If your backup are failing what error they are failing with. I presume you have installed remote agent on Mailbox node & CAS node of DAG
Also job is going to tape or disk.
Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for quick answers guys. I cannot run 'Cluster configuration Wizard', it says that "This software will not run on a machine that is not part of a cluster environment." Do i have to add this separate backup server into that same cluster to get this working?
The backups are going to fileserver that is located in different (trusted) domain, credentials are working properly. BE agents have been installed to all Exchange machines. The backup job that i'm trying to get working is configured to backup only from DAG group, not from servers themselves.
The error message i get (now when tried backup) says:
Relating to that error message message, i found these 2 forum posts:
http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/backup-exec-r2-exchange-2010-dag-failure-v-79-57344-34070
http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/be-2010-r2-sbs-2008-exchange-wont-backup-error-e0008516
The Exchange writer is already been enabled, and that HA setting in job properties did not help either.
Kind regards,
Matti

...have you tried to restart the media server?

Do you have the exchange agent installed or is the exchange agent running in trail mode ?
when you run VSSadmin list writers do you see Microsoft Exchange Replica writer?
IF the above write is missing ,check for the reg key below and remove it.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\ExchangeServer\v14\Replay\Parameters.
DWORD value named EnableVSSWriter, with value '0'.
(restart the Microsoft Exchange Replication service)
