Backup Exec 9.1 SP4 - MSL6000 + SDLT600 Configuration Problem

Hi...

I'm currently trying to setup and configure our MSL6000 + SDLT600 drive to backup our SAN based data by utilising Backup Exec for Windows 9.1 + SP4. Unfortunately, although Backup Exec seems to find the library and the drive, I cannot label, erase or even inventory the media. The media being utilised is brand new.

In addition, I've downloaded and installed the driver update from the Symantec site (http://support.veritas.com/docs/273853), deleted the devices, rebooted and still nothing. :o(

Please could anyone advise where I may be going wrong?

Thanks in advance,

Rich

Well I've answered by own question, although I'd rebooted the node running Backup Exec I hadn't powered off the library.

The problem was resolved by carrying out the following:

1) Installing the device drivers from the link it my first post.

2) Deleting the Veritas devices drivers using 'Device Config Wizard'.

3) Powering down both the library and the node.

4) Restarting the library, waiting for it to fully initialise then restart the node.

Both the library and drive were then visible in the 'Devices' tab and I was then able to label the media, run a simple file backup and launch a full Exchange mailbox and info store backup.
