Backup Exec failed to auth to SQL server instances

Hi,

I am struggling to get BackupExec 2012 SP3 to backup my SQL server instances. It fails to auth to the instances.

Here's some relevant info:
SQL server - SQL server 2008 R2 running mixed mode auth
Backup Exec 2012 SP3
It connects to the server successfully, but fails to auth on the instances
I have used accounts that are part of the local admins group on SQL server and double checked that they have rights to the NTFS folders
I used the .udl file test and can see the DBs just fine

What can I possibly do to get this to work? I would prefer not to just back up the .ldf and .mdf files.

Does the Backup Exec Service Account(BESA) have the 'db_owner' role? Could you please refer to the following article and confirm it? http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH66396
