Since you only get this error once, please re-run the backup again on another tape. It can be a faulty tape.

Can you please describe the situation a bit more ?

- What is the exact BE version you are using

- What is the OS version you are running on

- What kind of Backup device are you using

- Is Backup Exec fully patched.

- Did the backup run sucessfull in the past ?

- Can you post a full backup exec job log ?

I think your answer is rather obvious. Do post only when you have something to contribute towards the solution to the problem.

You should test whether your tape library is functioning correctly.

1) Stop all the BE services

2) Run the HP LT&T tool against your tape library and make sure that you select the write test.

If you see the logs, you can see that he is using an IBM library, so the HP TLL tool is not very usefull!

Sorry. My mistake. I thought I saw HP. In this case, he should be using whatever IBM tape diagnostic utility to do the test.

Other than a skipped file everything looks fine...

Till Thursday Backups ran to the same tape or different one?

If different try changing the tape...

As you are using a tape library you can try it with a different drive also..

Just verify the tape once again, in the log says your media which assigned for friday not able to read what i feel.

From the log:
Job name: FUll Backup MAMA01 + MBMA01
Job started: Friday, September 17, 2010 at 11:00:01 PM
Job type: Backup
Job Log: BEX_RUSPTEMAMA01_01131.xml

Drive and media mount requested: 9/17/2010 11:00:01 PM

No appendable media could be mounted.
Switching to overwrite operation on scratch media.

WARNING: The option 'Verify after backup completes' was not selected. Performing a verify operation to make sure that media can be read after the backup has completed is recommended.

I changed the "solution" because it was ZeroC00L that first suggested re-running the job with another tape, not Kiran
