Greetings,

I am fairly new to the entire backup process. I am responsible for running backups on a nightly basis. The last three nights my backups have failed. I am attaching the job log, which has been consistent with the last three nights backups log. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well the backup is failing when it starts the verify part of the job, where the following error is displayed :

---
Storage device "ARCHIVE 0" reported an error on a request to read data from media.

Error reported:
Data error (cyclic redundancy check)
---

This is quite a generic error, and doesn't directly indicate what the cause is. If you have a look at http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/192216.htm it has about 10 different things which might be causing the error, and that can be done to resolve it.

Thanks for the response. How do you find out what driver you are currenlty utilizing?

Keith_Langmead

You should be able to find that information through Control Panel, System, Device Manager. Find your device and the information about which driver is being used currently can be found within the properties information in the Driver tab.

Thanks so much. Finding device manager on Windows NT is a bit tricky.
