Backup Hangs at 99%

This doesnt happen all the time but often enough to be a problem.

Every now and then, the backup hangs at 99%. The bad part is that even if the job is set to automatically cancel after 10 hours, it keeps going until the server is rebooted.

When this happen, the job log is not created and gives me this error:

Unexpected end of input.
222: C:\Program Files\VERITAS\Backup Exec\NT\Data\BEX_SERVER_00750.xml

Like I said, this does not happen all the time and when it doesn't, the backups are 100% successful.

Does anyone have any ideas on what is causing this? Is this Veritas related or Tape drive related (VXA 1i)

Hello,

When the backup hangs at 99%, does it give you any alerts messages regarding media in the alerts tab? This problem can occur if this alerts message is still pending. In order to resolve this, you can configure auto responses to alerts.

Refer to the following technote for the same:

How to configure Backup Exec to automatically respond to media alerts, including when a backup hangs at 99%, until the user responds to a tape eject prompt

Have you got option 'Eject media after job completes' set on Backup Job - try running job without option if you have. This can cause backup job hangs on some certain drive types when using BackupExec

Hi,

Please update us on the issue!

Did you configure BE to respond to alerts automatically:

Thanks!

Suggestions seemed to have worked.
I haven't got a back up to hang at 99% since.
If it happens again I will post on here again.

Thanks!
