Backup Job reports Failure - can't find cause

We have a differential backup job that has been reporting as failed. It looks as though there is about the right amount of data on the tape, and other than a few 'exceptions' (for skipped files), we cannot see anything wrong worth reporting as failed...any ideas ?

Hi,
If the job is failing, it should give you a specific error code or message of some kind on the job log tab. Make sure to 'expand all' up at the top, then scroll through the log until you find the failure or error message. Also, what build of Backup Exec are you running, what exactly are you backing up when the failure occurs (flat file, SQL, etc), etc?

Regards,
Scott

It's actually a mixed bag of data. Multiple servers, but no 'direct SQL' backups, only the '.bak' files from SQL's builtin backup process would be backed up.

In the Job Log , the Job Completion Status is RED , and says "Completed Status: Failed: - this is where I used to see the status codes/error messages you are referring to.... but nothing, even when I "Expand all".

We are on version 11d, build 6235, Service Pack 1.

** as well - there is no "Errors" section in the Job Log...
