Backup SharePoint 2010 SP1 fails

We have implemented a new BE2010R3 server, fully updated. Also latest hotfix 161390 has been installed.
The backup of SharePoint still fails on 1 item:

Backup- User Profile Service Application\Proxy (Server\bfd45b2c-251e-4538-8b6b-87e486d45516)
V-79-57344-794 - Error: Unable to query the Team database meta-data.

The SPSWrapper log file gives the following error:
[0d6c] 08/01/11 09:19:44 Error  exception in running cmd Get-SPServiceApplicationProxy -identity bfd45b2c-251e-4538-8b6b-87e486d45516 Exception is Exception getting "SupportsParallelTenantProvisioning": "Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
[0d6c] 08/01/11 09:19:44 Error in BackupSSP
[0d6c] 08/01/11 09:19:44 Reply buffer for the Get Shared Service Provider Info(0x00000015) command.

Running the Get-SPServiceApplicationProxy under the BE service Account in Powershell on the SP server works fine.

We cannot find any solution. Symantec Support is unwilling to provide any help by telephone, since the SharePoint agent is in evaluation mode. We will not buy the SharePoint option until the backup works...

Anyone who has the same failure?
Any help would be very appreciated

Kind regards,

Ron

I have already applied this hotfix, but it did not solve my issue......

Hi Ron,

That issue still exists in BE 2010 R3.  A hotfix is coming... If you have a support case opened we may be able to provide you with an engineering patch until the hotfix is released.  This new technote describes the R3 issue: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH166208.  Watch that technote for the hotfix release.

Hi Russ,

Is there an update when the fix might be available?

The hotfix is still in the works with a couple hotfixes ahead of it.  The Hotfix when released will be number TECH164659.
