If its a non-NDMP device and if you're able to access that UNC path without any restrictions (admin/root level access), you should be able to do it without any additional licenses...

To backup data to a NAS does not require any license.

Bhavik,
What difference does it make for using as disk storage if the device is NDMP enabled/capable?

ok, removed my previous post (sorry to the other 2...). Just make sure that the device is on the BE 2012 HCL. If not, it doesn't mean it can't work, but support for any problems might be an issue.

If it's a regular share, you don't need any licenses. Just define it as a share and you're on the road.
However if it's an NDMP device, you can gain some benefits by configuring it's as an NDMP device (for example an NetApp device with CIFS shares defined). But then you need to license it per controller..
