Backup cancels itself after 5 minutes if using Open File option

Hi,

We are using BE 9.0 with the Open File option. It is installed on a Windows 2000 server.

Recently, our backups have been cancelling after about 5 minutes. There would be 0 bytes backed up. I stopped and restarted all the Backup Exec services and had the same problem. I then unchecked the Open File option and the backups immediately started.

Does anyone have an idea on what could be causing the problem ?

Hi,

The only error message is:

Error - Mount failed.
User canceled a Physical Volume Library operation.

But the backups start at 11:00 pm at night and no user is cancelling at that time.

Yes, we do have an AOFO license installed.

Are your backups completing successfully (regularly) without the AOFO option selected ?
Because the error you specified seems to be media related.
Do you get any other Alerts while backups were failing ? (Alerts -> History Tab)
Try doing an Inventory and then run the Backup.
I would also suggest you to upgrade to 9.1 (it is a free upgrade) and install the latest Veritas supplied Drivers.
