Hi All,
We currently use Backup exec 12.5 to backup up SQL 2005 instances/database on our windows 2003 servers. My question is will backup exec 12.5 sp3 backup a SQL 2005 instance/database on a windows 2008 server?
I know that our current version of backup exec won't work backup windows 2008 server filesystems until we do a service pack update to backup exec and I suspect that it won't backup sql 2005 on a 2008 server but just wanting some confirmation.. Would it work if I update 12.5 to the latest service pack or is that just allowing file system backups?
Our plan is to move to the latest and greatest version of backup exec but that is still a couple of weeks/months down the track and I am trying to come up with a solution for our SQL 2005 running on a windows 2008 problem now.
Thanks
Paul

BE 12.5 will backup Server 2008 after applying a hotfix, but for Server 2008 R2, you would need to upgrade to BE 2010.
BE 12.5 will backup SQL 2005 on Server 2008. Of course, you would need to have the BE SQL Agent to do so.
