Backup exec smtp authentication

 hi all,
windows 2000 server with backup exec 9
Backup exec notification doesn't work coz isp doesn't allow email to send out without authentication
Backup exec notification option does not have smtp login authentication box
Any help please

That is not an option available for SMTP notification. Not much can be done about this.

 Hi Florin, you can Install SMTP on your local machine and send it through that.

I dont get it..

I need backup exec software to send notification automatically...

not from outlook or outlook express or any other email client

 hi Florin,

Windows 2000 has an SMTP server component. Install that from Add/Remove Programs, Windows Components. Then point Backup Exec at localhost. The message will be dropped on to the server. As long as DNS is working correctly, it will find the MX record and deliver the email.
